Ontario Holds Mega PNP Draw – Over 3,500 Invitations Issued

Ontario’s Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a massive draw on June 3, 2025, issuing over 3,500 invitations for Canadian permanent residency. This unexpected move comes just days after the province announced stricter measures, including enhanced officer authority to cancel or reassess applications.

 Key Highlights of the Draw
 1. Regional Focus in Invitations

For the first time, Ontario issued targeted invitations based on specific regions:

  • Northern Ontario: Foreign workers with at least two years of experience in a related NOC (National Occupational Classification) were invited at a minimum score of 56.
  • Eastern Ontario: International graduates required a high score of 85, with 334 invitations issued.
  • Rural and Pilot Programs: The Regional Immigration Pilot (Ready Pilot) saw a cutoff score as low as 32, with 411 invitations—nearly half of its annual quota.
 2. High Demand for Healthcare Workers

A significant portion of invitations (1,350) went to healthcare professionals, with a cutoff score of 63. An additional 214 healthcare workers were invited under the In-Demand Skills stream.

 3. Limited Spots in Specialized Streams
  • Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP): Only four invitations were issued.
  • Career Counselors & Practitioners: Five candidates with scores above 45 were selected.
 What This Means for Applicants
  • Ready Pilot Nearly Filled: With 784 invitations already issued (out of an estimated 800 annual spots), remaining opportunities in this stream are scarce.
  • Increased Scrutiny: Ontario’s recent policy changes allow officers to conduct interviews, verify claims, and cancel applications if discrepancies are found.
  • Future Draws Uncertain: While this draw was extensive, Ontario may still hold additional rounds later in the year, depending on application rejections or quota adjustments.
 Next Steps for Candidates
  • Check Your Eligibility: If you received a Notification of Interest (NOI), ensure all documents (work experience, job offers, regional ties) are accurate to avoid refusal.
  • Prepare for Possible Interviews: Given Ontario’s new verification powers, applicants should be ready to provide additional proof if requested.
  • Monitor Updates: Further draws may target specific sectors like tech, trades, or Master’s/PhD graduates.
 Final Thoughts

This draw marks a major shift in Ontario’s PNP strategy, prioritizing regional labor needs and tightening application reviews. Candidates should act swiftly if invited and ensure their submissions meet all requirements.
